Family Read programs ( (formerly Motheread/Fatheread) are based on a nationally recognized curriculum, and are designed to promote parent-child bonding by combining the teaching of literacy skills with child development and child-rearing issues important to all families.
- This year, two successful Family Read programs were conducted at York Correctional Institution for women in Niantic by Read to Grow staff members trained in the Motheread/Fatheread curriculum. Funding for the programs at York was provided by a grant from the J. Walton Bissell Foundation.
