Volunteer Opportunities
-
`
Volunteers are the heart and soul of Read to Grow. Each year more than 100 generous individuals and groups donate their time to help improve early childhood literacy for Connecticut children. There are many different ways you can volunteer:
-
Books for Babies Hospital Volunteers
-
We are always looking for additional volunteers who are interested in becoming Books for Babies volunteers. Books for Babies volunteers play a key role in our program by visiting hospital rooms on the maternity units of our partner hospitals to talk with families of newborns about early literacy. Opportunities are available in the Hartford, Middletown, New Haven, New London and Bridgeport areas. Training is provided by Read to Grow staff and potential volunteers are required to fulfill the particular hospital’s requirements for volunteering, including adherence to hospital policies. For information on this important and rewarding experience, please call Read to Grow at 203-488-6800 and ask to speak to Priscilla Russo, Books for Babies Coordinator.
